so i’m in Paris for vacation and new things have come to me

• cafes stay open super super late, basically after 9:00 it’s all wine and cocktails for the rest of the night
• teens usually go out for drinks even before 18
• they barely ever check ID
• also most cafes have AMAZING fancy meals
• some clubs usually accept people under 18
• either way, a lot of teens over and under 18 go to clubs and it’s not a really big deal
• most kids start when they are 24
• leggings are a no go
• the most popular outfit especially for girls is basically skinny jeans and a white shirt
• what you wear is essential. no one goes to school in sweatpants of athletic wear
• red heads are made fun of don’t ask me i don’t know why
• people born in the year 2000 and later are often made fun of too
• literally the french use “friend” or “copain/copine and ami/amie” to mean boyfriend and girlfriend now
• they made up a new word to mean friend, it’s “pote”
• french rap is literally about the most random stuff it makes no sense
• french slang is comprised of a lot of “verlan” or “a l’envers”. They say “ziquemu” instead of “musique” and other things like that it’s pretty dumb if you ask me but it’s still very common
• college is literally a lottery you make a list of your top 10 or something and then the colleges pick from all the people who put them as number one on their list. then they go down and down for more rounds until all places are filled
• fun fact there was a baby boom in 1999 and apparently college didn’t expect the amount of people applying for spaces this year. very good students still haven’t been accepted to any one school.
• most kids go to prépa or even college close to home
• a lot of french people speak very adequate english because it’s basically shoved into their faces 24/7
• lots of pick-pockets in Paris it’s insane
• many people usually vacation in Corsica with friends or family because it’s hot and there are beaches everywhere
• it’s actually so much fun we’d have casual drinking parties on the patio or on the beach in corsica and no one really cares
