people are saying shit like “the left brought mace, rocks, bandanas, spray paint, knives, etc. they CLEARLY wanted violence, and when they got it they cried about it!”

first of all, dont try to spin this into a political argument in your favor. this was a terror attack. people died and youre saying that they were asking for a fight.

secondly, these people arent starting a fight. theyve been getting the shit kicked out of them for years, and this is just the first time theyve gotten up, dusted themselves off, and really started throwing punches back. to say that fighting back is regressive is saying that allowing our people to be killed in the streets without any backlash is the way things should be.

It’s also one of the oldest slogans;

“Si vis pacem, para bellum”
“If you wish for peace, prepare for war”

Turning up unarmed wouldn’t have deterred the fascists, being armed however makes a deterrent and allows them to fight back when the fascists attack rather than be chased off by the fascists allowing them to control the streets.
