when people of color become romantic interests or are considered shippable by any facet of fandom, the rest of fandom shuts that down real quick because its not realistic (like with abbie from sleepy hollow), characterization clashes suddenly matter (tvd’s bonnie bennett or true blood’s tara thorton), or fandom is certain the character is more empowered foregoing romance entirely (mako mori from pacific rim.)

when people of color become villains? shit. don’t even try it. because fandom couldn’t sympathize with a black or brown characters tragic back story to make even their most ridiculous crackships come true.
