I’ve always loved this picture. I love how collective it is. On the contrary, also love the little differences in everyone. There’s only three people in this entire picture (plus the other two women in the back) without white shirts and ties. The first two are Deke Slayton and Bill Pogue, which is understandable because they are astronauts. But Alan Shepard has even decided to go along with the Launch Control Dress Code. The only other person is JoAnn Morgan, the first female launch controller. Only six people in the entire shot, two of which you might not even be able to see, aren’t looking out the window or even facing the camera.
