When folks talk about unconventional takes on D&D cultures they usually just mean swapping stereotypes between elves and dwarves, or possibly between elves and orcs, but consider: rotate them one place to the left instead.

e.g., instead of posh, flighty elves; industrious, sober-minded dwarves; gentle, folksy halflings; and hold-my-beer orcs, you have hold-my-beer elves; posh, flighty dwarves; industrious, sober-minded halflings; and gentle, folksy orcs.

Or do the opposite direction, and now you have industrious, sober-minded elves; gentle, folksy dwarves; hold-my-beer halflings; and posh, flighty orcs.

Or kick everybody two notches along (doesn’t matter which direction) and end up with gentle, folksy elves; hold-my-beer dwarves; posh, flighty halflings; and industrious, sober-minded orcs.

Lots of options, really.
