How to use coloured text on desktop: tumblr’s worst update

typenull:

cool fuckin rainbow text tutorial or whatever

ok tumblr decided to make this a feature for some reason and ppl seem to use it fine on ios but im a primarily desktop bitch so heres how to do this shit on desktop the convoluted and stupid way.

when u go to make a new post, click on the cogwheel and change the text editor from rich text to HTML like this:

image

so far there are 7 different colours u can use:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink

the span tag for the colours are in this box here:

<span class="npf_color_joey">this is red</span>

<span class="npf_color_monica">this is orange</span>
<span class="npf_color_phoebe">this is yellow</span>
<span class="npf_color_ross">this is green</span>
<span class="npf_color_rachel">this is blue</span>
<span class="npf_color_chandler">this is purple</span>
<span class="npf_color_niles">this is pink</span>

copy the tag for the colour you want, paste it into your HTML editor, and add your text in between the angle brackets where it says “this is (text colour)”

since this is HTML, you might want to write your post first and then change the text editor to HTML. otherwise, you will have to format your post in HTML, like this:

image

when posted, it looks like this:

image

<p></p> indicates a paragraph, <br> is a line break. otherwise, your text will be in one big chunk.

if you need any help formatting, feel free to drop me an ask

Some advice for dressmakers:

1. Pockets are a thing.
2. Breasts are a thing.

Leave room in your design for both.

#I’m looking at you summer dresses #made for people with flat chests#and no material possessions they need to carry with them (via @ticktockclockwork)

Yep, this is a real problem. From a design stand point it saves fabric and time since you don’t have to add any darts or pockets, and they go with the premise that a flat square shape should fit everyone without having to make much changes to the pattern (except to make it bigger or smaller). This whole one-size-fits-all mentality in fashion is so flawed, and actually impractical, it really annoys me how teachers let it slide in college and how the apparel industry continues to spew it year after year.

As someone who has breasts (DDD-H depending on what manufacturer I’m talking to) and loves pockets, let me wholeheartedly recommend eshakti.com. I started buying dresses from them in November and I love them. They will customize necklines, hemlines, etc., for a $9.95 flat fee, they will customize to your measurements if you don’t fit a standard size, and I’ve really enjoyed all my dresses from them. Most of their dresses come in sizes from XS to 6XL Feel free to message or send me an ask if you have specific questions!

Let’s say you wanted to glue fabric to wood, but what do you use? What about glass to paper? This to That lets you choose two things you want to glue and lists what types of glue is best. (Because people have a need to glue things to other things!)

This is an incredibly awesome site.  Go check it out!

Whhhhaaaaaattt!???

EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS

This is one of the first websites I was told about in props. It also has information about the toxicity, adhere time, price, and other stuff about the glues.

Useful for cosplayers and DIY!

I feel personally attacked.

[replacement for first link, which wasn’t working

I went through the whole thing just to see what it said for each combination.

Just in time for Halloween prop making.  Handy for cosplayers, too.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T..R …
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall – she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food – while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital – (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this…

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg ‘It is sunny out today’).
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

And it could be your own.

Reblogging because if I hadn’t have known the signs, my mother wouldn’t be alive today.

Unlike a lot of chain messages, this one is mostly accurate.

“ By distilling the assessment process down to three simple tests (smile, raise both arms, speak a simple sentence), anyone is likely to remember what to ask of someone they suspect has just undergone a stroke and to correctly interpret the information so gleaned. (The tests are pass/fail, after all, so if the person they were administered to couldn’t smile, couldn’t raise her arms, and was incoherent, the party observing all this wouldn’t be at a loss for what to make of the results — she’d conclude her friend had undergone a stroke.) ”

Get the victim to a hospital, now.

Fact checked: the Smile-Talk-Raise both arms test is unambiguously verified.

In the UK, we use FAST in public campaigns. If you notice that someone’s:

F – Face is drooping on one side
A – Arm or and or leg on one side are not working, limp, weak etc
S – Speech is slurred
T- Time is of the essence, seek urgent medical help now (Call 999). Alternatively, the T sometimes stands for Telephone.

A simple guide to picking a great color palette. No matter what the colors are, using colors that are certain distances from each other on the color wheel result in a great contrast of colors. The simple color schemes shown above are used in the most popular logos, posters, websites, paintings, and even movies and television.
